NCH- o konferencji

Konferencja NEW CITY HABITAT to międzynarodowe wydarzenie poświęcone rolnictwu miejskiemu wspierającemu tworzenie zrównoważonych, zielonych, bioróżnorodnych, przyjaznych ludziom miast.
Konferencja NEW CITY HABITAT to pierwsze spotkanie liderów ogrodów społecznych z USA i Europy, a także naukowców
i urbanistów badających znaczenie rolnictwa miejskiego. Wszystkich łączy przekonanie, że ogrody społeczne i ogrodnictwo miejskie pomagają uratować współczesne miasta. Wśród prelegentów znajdują się takie sławy, jak:
Rich McDonald - P-PATCH Seattle USA, Alan Holland TWIGS Community Gardens Swindon Wielka Brytania, Frank Lohrberg Aachen University Niemcy, Emanuela Saporito, Politechnika w Turynie Włochy i wielu innych.

The conference NEW CITY HABITAT is an international event devoted to the development of urban agriculture to create vital, inclusive, sustainable and resilient modern cities.
Urban agriculture and Community gardens are peaceful transformations, usually from the bottom up, which offer invaluable opportunities to involve local communities in promoting common good. These gardens are a real green peaceful revolution; work from the foundation up has a tangible impact on the environment, the growth of fruits and vegetables, human connections, and the development of the younger generations of community minded people.

The NEW CITY HABITAT conference is the first meeting of community garden leaders from the US and Europe as well as scientists and urban planners investigating the importance of urban farming. Everyone is united by the belief that community gardens and urban horticulture can help to save modern cities. Speakers will include such celebrities as:
Rich Mc Donald - P-PATCH Seattle USA, Alan Holland TWIGS Community Gardens Swindon United Kingdom, Frank Lohrberg Aachen University Germany, Emanuela Saporito, Polytechnic University of Turin Italy.

Through the conference we want to support green initiatives and urban gardening and share this knowledge with representatives of city authorities from Poland and around the world.  With their support many new valuable initiatives and programs can germinate and grow.

Thanks to the participation of representatives from cities such as Seattle, Paris, London, Rome and others in the conference we will be able to learn from the principles and operational methods of various models of municipal farms and community and therapeutic gardens.  We will also get to know the Brussels regulations relating to Food Strategy. We will answer questions as to whether the production of healthy food in the city is possible at all, as well as how to do it. We will include the topic of bee keeping in the city, without which urban agriculture would not be possible. On this subject Krakow will share its experiences in the activities carried out under "Apiary Krakow" and the educational opportunities associated with city bee keeping.

The conference organizational initiative is a result of an EU project entitled "RU: RBAN –urban agriculture for resilient cities", of which Krakow together with six other European cities from France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece and Lithuania have been partners since 2019. The project has made us aware of the importance of urban agriculture in creating sustainable cities and supporting us with specific tools and knowledge.  With this in mind we were able to launch several new community gardens during the year and prepare legal regulations regarding community gardens.  We are also creating a future project called "Garden with class" involving teachers, students and parents in the development of school gardens that will help to grow their local communities.
